On the southwest side of Cebu lies the idyllic coastal town of Badian. Unknown to many the town is a treasure trove of natural wonders, there's Badian island whose surrounding water is perfect for snorkeling and diving, and then there's enchanting Kawasan falls - the backpackers haven.Your travel by bus ends near a church beside a river that embraces the sea. A short walk and you will see fishes swimming around. Your journey is on the other way, where Kawasan falls beckons.
Trekking along the river is one relaxing experience. Sounds of water crashing onto rocks and birds singing along as the wind make the leaves rustle and the tree branches sway. Towering trees hold onto large boulders and young ferns grow on its cracks. Butterflies too hover from blossom to blossom.
Halfway an old stone bridge comes to view. Stone after stone and an immense structure was formed to withstand the trials of nature.
Further along the path the waterfall slowly reveal itself.Yet another bridge to cross, small and fragile-looking because it's made of wood. This structure makes a good point to savor the surrounding scenery, more importantly the beauty the lies in the distance.
A few steps more and you are there. The majestic body of water right in front of your very own eyes. Tempting and peaceful. Time seems to stand still in this secluded paradise.
No wonder many are lured by this breathtaking beauty. People
flock into this oasis to soothe their bodies and to cleanse their souls. The experience of walking along the path to the beautiful Kawasan falls is something that leaves a distinct mark in our memories. Having been to this place many times makes one relive the past. Every visit is indeed different.
